Colon Hydrotherapy

What is Colon Hydrotherapy?

“Colon Hydrotherapy, colonics, or colon irrigation is a safe, effective method of removing accumulated waste and toxins from the large intestine, without the use of drugs. By introducing filtered & warm temperature regulated water into the colon, the waste is softened and loosened, resulting in evacuation through natural peristalsis.

Colon hydrotherapy is best used in combination with adequate nutrient and fluid intake as well as exercise. Today’s sophisticated technology promotes both the safety and sanitation of this popular cleansing practice.”

Why Colon Hydrotherapy?

The large intestine or the colon is approximately the last 5 feet of the digestive tract. This hollow tube like organ is made up of muscle that moves digested food and waste through the colon with a wavelike motion called peristalsis. It has been said that the large intestine is our sewer line; if we abuse it or neglect it then it may become quite toxic. Toxins or waste that remains in the colon for extended periods of time will putrefy, decay, ferment and then recirculate throughout the body. Colon Hydrotherapy encourages the restoration of the colon’s natural function by strengthening the peristalsis, which over time may weaken due to improper diet and nutrition, lack of exercise, and digestive issues such as constipation.

The primary function of the colon is to absorb water, electrolytes, and some vitamins. It also works to store matter before it is excreted. Its minor role is in the absorption of some nutrients, namely absorbing vitamin K. Much of the contents in our colons are often undigested food and fiber. Our colons contain a large amount of bacteria. When this bacteria is mixed with these undigested foods it helps to concentrate the feces and get any remaining nutrients out of the food. Without our colons we would not live very long, as it is a major organ of the body. Unfortunately, it is susceptible to diseases, such as crohn’s disease, cancer, diverticulitis and many more. Colon cleansing, combined with a healthy lifestyle may help divert these conditions down the road.

Repetition of filling the colon with water works not only to flush waste out of the colon, but it also stimulates the colon to contract. In this way the muscles of the colon are strengthened. This is why colon hydrotherapy is not addictive, like laxatives, but is strengthening to your colon. Laxatives contain harmful chemicals that irritate the colon to spasm irradictly which is not natural. Using water to cleanse your colon can be an excellent way to achieve optimal bowel function.

Today’s diet consists mainly of refined foods: flour, fats, meats, alcohol, sugar, preservatives and fried foods. These are very hard for the digestive system to process and lack fiber, vitamins, or nutrients. The importance of a diet high in fiber is often overlooked. This may result in constipation or other digestive complaints.
